Die Media Arts Residency zwischen der Stadt Gwangju (Korea) und München ist seit 2018 ein Angebot des Kulturreferats der Landeshauptstadt München und wird organisiert durch den Kunstraum super+CENTERCOURT in Kooperation mit der Artist in Residence Munich: Villa Waldberta / Ebenböckhaus, Landeshauptstadt München. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Gwangju Museum of Art sowie durch die Unterstützung des Goethe-Instituts Korea wird ein Austausch zwischen Künstler:innen aus München und Gwangju organisiert.
2023 ist die Künstlerin Sul Park zu Gast in München. Sie präsentiert im super+Centercourt Arbeiten, die während ihres Aufenthalts in der Villa Waldberta entstanden sind. Sul Parks Arbeiten bieten durch die Verwendung traditioneller koreanischer Tusche und Reispapier einen spannenden Einblick in die Verbindung von kulturellem Erbe und modernem Ausdruck. Die Nachahmung der Natur sowohl in der Form als auch in der Komposition bezieht sich auf die äußeren Merkmale und visuellen Eigenschaften der natürlichen Welt, die in ihren Werken wiedergegeben werden.
Texturen, Muster und Oberflächenstrukturen sind in der Natur reichlich vorhanden. Die Formen der Natur sind in der Regel organisch und asymmetrisch. Um eine natürliche Ästhetik zu schaffen, greift Sul Par diese organischen Elemente in ihren Werken auf. Die Künstlerin verwendet ausschließlich Schwarz und Weiß, um eine natürliche Tiefenwirkung wie das Spiel von Licht und Schatten zu erzielen. Nicht die exakte Wiedergabe ist wichtig, sondern die Möglichkeit, durch künstlerische Gestaltung neue Perspektiven auf die Natur zu eröffnen und die Betrachter:innen auf eine Wahrnehmungsreise mitzunehmen.
Sul Park (*1984 Naju, Korea) lebt und arbeitet in Gwangju, Korea. Sie hat einen Abschluss in Malerei von der Chonnam National University. Sie hatte Ausstellungen in Seoul (Korea), Gwangju (Korea), Busan (Korea), Peking (China), San Antonio (Amerika) und Longega (Italien).
Ein Programm organisiert von der Künstlerin Siyoung Kim und der Kuratorin Sophie-Charlotte Bombeck.

The Media Arts Residency between the city of Gwangju (Korea) and Munich has been an offer of the Cultural Department of the City of Munich since 2018 and is organised by the art space super+CENTERCOURT in cooperation with the Artist in Residence Munich: Villa Waldberta / Ebenböckhaus, City of Munich. In cooperation with the Gwangju Museum of Art and with the support of the Goethe-Institut Korea, an exchange between artists from Munich and Gwangju is being organised.
In 2023, the artist Sul Park is a guest in Munich. She will present works in the super+Centercourt that were created during her stay at Villa Waldberta. Sul Park's works offer an exciting insight into the combination of cultural heritage and modern expression. The artist uses traditional Korean ink and rice paper. The imitation of nature in both form and composition refers to the external features and visual characteristics of the natural world that are reproduced in her works.
Textures, patterns and surface structures abound in nature. The forms of nature are usually organic and asymmetrical. To create a natural aesthetic, Sul Par picks up on these organic elements in her works. The artist uses only black and white to achieve a natural effect of depth such as the play of light and shadow. It is not the exact reproduction that is important, but the possibility of opening up new perspectives on nature through artistic design and taking the viewer on a perceptual journey.
Sul Park (b. 1984 Naju, Korea) lives and works in Gwangju, Korea. She has a degree in painting from Chonnam National University. She has had exhibitions in Seoul (Korea), Gwangju (Korea), Busan (Korea), Beijing (China), San Antonio (America) and Longega (Italy).
